Man's aesthetic nature finds expression in the creation of captivating arts and crafts. Even in the age of crumbling traditional norms and accelerating spread of mammon worship, a perceptible section of apparently, inconsequential people are engaged in rejuvenating the age-old arts and crafts; they call it India eternal. They try to make the most of 'indigenous knowledge system' by their magic touch of their hands, create the living pictures of living past as well as the contemporary present.
Pondicherry - 'la cité tranquille' (the city tranquil), the spiritual abode of Sri Aurobindo had its ancient name of Vedapuri then to Puducheri (Dutch name) and subsequently lovingly called Pondicherry by the French. Present day Pondicherry still has the flavour of French influences specially their love for beauty and aesthetics. And this has become the inspiration to all the Pondicherry's artisans and crafts makers; their magic hands has crafted a unique handicrafts.
Now, we proudly call these handicrafts Hand created in Pondicherry.
